Hello, and thank you for visiting the VESD website! It is difficult to capsulate VESD in a brief message, but I can say we are proud of the work being done to ensure success for over 12,000 students. All of our work is promoting the attainment of our visionary mission statement which was created by a team of staff, parents, and community members.
Victor Elementary School District is committed to inspiring purposeful learners who create their future with confidence, curiosity, innovation, and integrity through engaging learning experiences in safe environments within a supportive culture.
VESD works consistently to meet the needs of all students through providing quality professional development for our staff, collaborating with parents and community members, listening to students and benchmarking best practices across the nation. The visionary mission statement drives the VESD Board Objectives and Goals and the input gathered from all of our stakeholders and then each year VESD uses the input to determine any needed changes and additions to our aligned plans – Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), Local Education Agency Plan (LEA Plan), Title III Plan, Technology Plan.
VESD has several active committees through which we gather input for our aligned plans: Quality Works, District English Language Advisory Committee, Budget Committee, District Advisory Committee, Foster Youth Committee, African American Advisory Committee and Student Focus Groups. These committees are made up in a variety of ways with staff, students, parents, and community members and they meet either monthly or trimesterly. I am very grateful to all committee members for their commitment; their input is priceless! Please feel free to read through our LCAP and LEA Plan on this website.
In August of 2016, VESD will be opening a new school site for Galileo Academy. Currently Galileo is housed on Silica Dr. and has been borrowing portable classrooms from Lomitas. The move in August will allow several things to happen. First Galileo can grow at their new site. Lomitas may then add students as they gain their classrooms back. Mountain View Montessori will move into the old Galileo site which, in turn, will give Liberty a few more classrooms for growth.
There is a lot of work to be done in order to ensure our visionary mission statement becomes a reality. I can assure you that the VESD community – staff, parents, students and community members – is making that work happen and I could not be more proud to work in this district.
