Sixth Street Prep School, One of 126 Star Schools in California
The California Business for Education Excellence has named Sixth Street Prep School a Star School based on the 2007 student achievement data. The announcement read, "After reviewing student achievement data for every public school in California, your school stood well above the rest in getting your students to grade level proficiency."
An awards dinner will be held on November 6, 2007, at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City to recognize schools that were selected as Honor Roll and as Star Schools throughout the state.

Annual STAR Celebration
On August 31, 2007, you could feel the excitement in the air as students chanted “We’re Number 1.” They had just received the news that Sixth Street Prep School had surpassed all other schools in the district with an API of 861! All their hard work had paid off.
During the celebration, nearly 300 certificates were given for students who had achieved the level of proficient or advanced. 70 of those students received proficient or advanced status in both language arts and math earning them a trip with their teachers to Disneyland. An additional 31 students were recognized for achievement of proficient or advanced in one area and earned a reward trip to Scandia in Ontario. Students who showed improvement in both areas will be honored at an Ice Cream Sundae bash in October.
We deeply appreciate the hard work of our teachers and the support of our parents that enabled us to reach this new milestone.

The governing boards of California school districts must annually prepare
and issue the School Accountability Report Card (SARC) for each elementary
and secondary school under their jurisdiction. SARC reports are required
by law to provide parents, the local business community, and interested
parties with important information about a school's progress in 16 key areas.
These Conditions cover such topics as progress toward meeting goals
in reading, writing, and arithmetic progress toward reducing dropout rates
and the amount of funds spent on salaries and other services. The
School Accountability Report Card was established by Proposition 98,
an initiative passed by California voters in November of 1988.
