The Victor Elementary School District (VESD) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the selection of Lori Clark as their next superintendent, effective February 1, 2022. Ms. Clark will replace Jan Gonzales who will be retiring after 25 years with VESD and nine years as superintendent.

After an extensive search that began in October of 2021, with applicants from across the state, the board of trustees voted unanimously to select Ms. Clark to lead VESD.

Board President Allen Williams said, “Lori Clark’s proven success in raising student achievement for all students has been a hallmark of her career at VESD. Her vision, passion, and energy for the success of each child makes her promotion to superintendent the continuation of the progress we’ve made, of the culture that defines us, and the tradition of excellence that we aspire to.”

Ms. Clark has been with VESD for 29 years. She started her career as a classroom teacher for 12 years before becoming the principal of Brentwood Elementary. She then continued as assistant superintendent of pupil services and is currently serving as the assistant superintendent of educational services. Ms. Clark earned her master’s degree and administrative services credential from Chapman University.  She holds a bachelor of arts degree and California teaching credential from California State University, San Bernardino.

“I am excited about the opportunity to continue to work with our students, staff, and families.” said Ms. Clark, “We have a wonderful community here at VESD and in Victorville. I look forward to strengthening our commitment to continuous improvement through collaboration with our community.”

VESD is a TK-6 school district serving over 12,000 students at 18 schools in Victorville.
